LOWER( ) function

Returns a string with alphabetic characters converted to lowercase.

Syntax

LOWER(string)

Parameters

string

Character. The value to convert to lowercase.

Output

Character.

Remarks

This function converts all alphabetic characters in the string parameter to lowercase. All non-alphabetic characters are left unchanged.

You can use LOWER( ) when you search for data that is in mixed or unknown case, or when you want data formatted as lowercase text.

“abc”

LOWER("abc 123 DEF")

“abc 123 def”

LOWER("AbCd 12")

“abcd 12”

LOWER(Last_Name)

All values in the “Last_Name” field converted to lowercase
