PI( ) function

Returns the value of pi to 15 decimal places.

Syntax

PI( )

Parameters

This function does not have any parameters.

Output

Numeric.

Remarks

The PI( ) function can be used to convert degrees to radians: (degrees * PI( )/180) = radians. Radians are the required input for three of ACL’s math functions: SIN( ), COS( ), and TAN( ).

PI( )

3.141592653589793

The return value is the value of pi to 15 decimal places.

60 * PI( )/180

1.047197551196598

The return value is the equivalent in radians of 60 degrees.

SIN(60 * PI( )/180)

0.866025403784439

The return value is the sine of 60 degrees.
