Installing ACL Workstation using the setup wizard

You can use the ACL Workstation setup wizard to install ACL Workstation on an end user’s computer.

To install ACL Workstation:

  1. On the end user’s computer, close all other Windows applications.
  2. Navigate to the WS subfolder on the computer hosting ACL Network.

    The default location is: C:\ACL Software\ACL Analytics 10\WS. If you cannot see the WS subfolder on your network, appropriate Windows rights and folder permissions may not have been set up. For more information, see Rights and permissions required by ACL Network.

  3. Double-click setupWS.exe.
  4. Select the language you want to use for your installation of ACL Workstation and click OK.
  5. If you are prompted to install prerequisites, click Install. After the prerequisites are installed, the ACL Workstation installer automatically proceeds.
  6. In the Welcome page, click Next.
  7. In the License Agreement page, select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.
  8. In the Network location page, enter the path to the folder containing the ACL Network application executable (ACLWin.exe), or click Change to select the folder, and click Next.

    Enter a UNC path if ACL Workstation and ACL Network will be on different computers – for example, \\<computer name>\ACL Software\ACL Analytics 10. Enter a local file system path if ACL Workstation and ACL Network will be on the same computer – for example, C:\ACL Software\ACL Analytics 10. If you click Change to select the folder, you are limited to local folders unless you have previously mapped a drive to the appropriate folder on another computer.

    Note

    If an error message appears stating ACLWin.exe was not found, the UNC path you entered may not match the Windows rights and folder permissions. You must have permissions to the top-level folder in the path, and any subfolders. For more information, see Rights and permissions required by ACL Network.

  9. In the Destination Folder page, change the sample data files folder if necessary, and click Next. The default sample data files folder is C:\ACL DATA\Sample Data Files.
    Note

    The sample data files folder is also the default ACL working directory.

  10. In the Ready to Install the Program page, click Install.
  11. When the installation process is complete, click Finish.

    The ACL Workstation shortcut, named ACL Analytics 10, is created on the desktop of the computer running the ACL Workstation setup wizard.
