About searching data

You can search ACL tables to locate:

You can also use the FIND( ) function to create a filter that isolates all records that match the search criteria. For more information, see the ACL Language Reference.

Search has four options, depending on the type of records you are searching for and whether the table is indexed:

To search using the Find Literal or Seek Expression options, the table must be indexed on at least one character key field in ascending order. Other index key fields can be non-character or in descending order, but are excluded from the search.

The list below provides additional information about the four search options.

If you are searching an indexed table, you should know whether or not the index is conditional. A conditional index excludes certain records from the resulting view and from any ACL operations, including searching, when it is in effect.
