Adding radio buttons in the Dialog Builder

A radio button group presents mutually exclusive options to the user. Only one option can be selected in a radio button group. This control creates a numeric variable which contains 1 if the first radio button is selected, 2 if the second radio button is selected, and so on.

To add a radio button group:

  1. In the Dialog Builder, click Radio Button and then click the form location where you want to place the top left corner of the control.
  2. In the Radiobuttons dialog box, enter text in the Label text box to create a radio button and the text label to displayed beside it and click Add to add the item to the Label List.
  3. Repeat step 2 to create at least one more radio button and add it to the Label List.
  4. Enter the name of the variable to use to store the value of this control in the Variable text box.
  5. Highlight an item in the Label List box and click Set Default to determine the default value of the variable.
  6. If you want to specify the exact position of the control, modify the value in the X text box to change horizontal position of the control and/or the Y text box to change the vertical position of the control.
  7. If you want to change the size of the control deselect the Auto checkboxes beside the Height and/or Width text boxes and modify the values, which are specified in pixels.

If the Auto checkbox is selected the control is resized whenever the displayed text changes, otherwise the entered value is used.

  8. Specify whether the radio buttons are positioned horizontally, side-by-side, or vertically one on top of another by selecting Horizontal or Vertical in the Alignment panel.
  9. Click OK.
