Maintaining views for ACL tables

You can use the Views tab in the Table Properties dialog box to maintain the views associated with the table that is currently open in ACL.

To maintain views for an ACL table:

  1. Open the ACL table you want to maintain views for.
  2. Select the ACL table in the Overview tab in the Project Navigator, and then right-click and select Properties.
  3. Click the Views tab.
  4. If you want to add a new view, complete the following steps:
    1. Click Add.
    2. Enter the name for the view in the Add View dialog box, and click OK.
    3. Select the fields and expressions to add to the view in the Add Columns dialog box, and click OK.
  5. If you want to copy a view, select the view to copy and click Copy.

    A copy of the view is created with the same name, with the number 2 appended to the end of the name.

  6. If you want to rename a view, select the view to rename, enter the new name for the view in the Rename View dialog box, and click OK.
  7. If you want to delete a view, select the view to delete and click Delete.
  8. If you want to export a view to a file, select the view to export and complete the following steps:
    1. Click Export.
    2. In the Select Server Type window, make sure Windows is selected.
    3. Click OK.
    4. In the Save View As dialog box, select the folder to save the view in and enter a file name and click Save. The file must be saved with a .RPT extension.
    5. Click OK in the confirmation dialog box.
  9. If you want to import one or more views from another ACL project, complete the following steps:
    1. Click Import.
    2. In the Locate Project File dialog box, navigate to the appropriate folder and select the ACL project file you want to import one or more views from, and click Open.
    3. In the Import dialog box select the view(s) to import in the From list and click the right-arrow button.

      You can Ctrl+click in the From list to select multiple views. Alternatively, you can click Add All to add all of the listed views to the To list.

    4. Click OK to import the view(s).

      If any of the fields in the view are invalid for the table you are importing the view for, an error message is displayed and the fields are excluded from the view.

  10. If you want to view the details for a view, select the view and click Details.

    The View Properties dialog box is displayed with tabs that display the properties of the view and any notes associated with the view. Click OK when you have finished viewing this information.

  11. Click OK to close the Table Properties dialog box.
