FVSCHEDULE( ) function

Returns the future value of an investment calculated at a variable compound rate.

Syntax

FVSCHEDULE(principal, rate1 <,rate2...>)

Parameters

principal

Numeric. The amount of the initial investment.

rate1, rate2...

Numeric. Specifies a series of variable compound interest rates for equal length periods.

Output

Numeric.

Example

To calculate the future value of a $1000 investment at variable interest rates of 10 percent for the first year, 9 percent for the second year, and 7 percent for the third year:

FVSCHEDULE(1000, 0.1, 0.09, 0.07)

returns 1282.93.
