The FILE tag specifies a non-ACL file, such as an Excel file, or a delimited file, that provides input for an analytic. The specified file must be located in the Related Files subfolder in the AX folder where the analytic is located.

The FILE tag is not supported for use in analytics run in the Analysis App window. To specify an input file for analytics run in the Analysis App window, use the PARAM tag. For more information, see PARAM.

//FILE filename

The name of the item in the Related Files subfolder to use as an input file for an analytic. The filename cannot include a path.

If the exact file name is not known in advance, or varies by month or other predictable criteria, you can use wildcards to specify the file name. Use a single asterisk (*) to substitute for zero or more characters. For example, Inv12* would match all of the following: Inv12, Inv123, and Inv1234. You can also use the following syntax to specify a variable file name and file extension: *.* For example, *.* would match all files in the Related Files subfolder, or Inv_*.* would match either of the following: Inv_Jan.pdf, Inv_Feb.xls

The following example shows file names being specified by providing the exact name, by using a wildcard, and by selecting all files in the Related Files subfolder.

//FILE FlaggedAccounts.csv
//FILE Flagged*.csv
//FILE *.*
