RESULT

The RESULT tag specifies the analytic output results that you want to make available in AX Client, AX Web Client, or the Analysis App window. Output results, even if they exist, are not automatically made available, with the exception of a log file if an analytic fails. You must use a RESULT tag for each result item that you want to make available.

Syntax

//RESULT type name
  <description>
type

Specifies the type of result item. The following types can be specified:

  • Table – The result is an ACL table and associated data file.

  • Log – The result is an analytic log file.

  • File – The result is a non-ACL file.

name

The meaning of name depends on the result type specified. The name cannot contain any spaces.

  • If Table is specified, name is the name of the ACL table.

    You can use wildcard characters in the table name if part of the table name may change. For example, if the table name depends on the month (invoices-jan, invoices-feb, and so on), specifying invoices-* ensures that the table is made available in the results regardless of the month suffix.

    Note

    The name value must be the ACL table name, not the source data file name. For example:

    //RESULT TABLE Missing_Checks

    not:

    //RESULT TABLE Missing_Checks.fil

  • If Log is specified, name is the name of the analytic log file. If the name value is omitted, the default name is used: analytic_name.log.

  • If File is specified, name is the name of the non-ACL file.

    You can use wildcard characters for all or part of the file name value to specify all files with a specific extension (*.xls), or to specify files where part of the file name may change. For example, if the file name depends on the month (invoices-jan.xls, invoices-feb.xls, and so on), specifying invoices-*.xls ensures that the file is made available in the results regardless of the month suffix.

description

Optional. Descriptive text about the result or other information. The description can be multiline, but it cannot skip lines.

Example

The following example shows result definitions that return an ACL table, all Excel (.xls) files, and the analytic log with the default name.

//RESULT TABLE Missing_Checks
//RESULT FILE *.xls
//RESULT LOG
