Adding drop-down lists in the Dialog Builder

Use the drop-down list control to present a list of items to the user where the user must select one of the items. This control creates a character variable which contains the text of the selected item.

To add a drop-down list:

  1. In the Dialog Builder, click Drop-down List and then click the form location where you want to place the top left corner of the control.
  2. In the Dropdown list dialog box, enter text in the Label text box and click Add to create each item to the Label List.
  3. Enter the name of the variable which will store the selected value of the control in the Variable text box.
  4. Highlight an item in the Label list box and click Set Default to specify the default value of the variable.
  5. If you want to change the size of the control deselect the Auto checkboxes beside the Height and/or Width text boxes and modify the values, which are specified in pixels.

If the Auto checkbox is selected the control is resized whenever the displayed text changes, otherwise the entered value is used.

  6. In the Initial State panel, select Unchecked or Checked to specify the default value of the variable.
  7. Click OK.
