Exporting folder items
Export folder items to copy them from AX Server to your local computer.
How exporting works
Exporting projects and analysis apps
When you export an ACL project or an analysis app from a folder, the item establishes a programmatic association with the tables in the Data sub-folder. The associated tables are included in the exported project.
You can select whether or not to include the source .fil data files along with the tables. If you do not export the source files, the exported tables become server tables connected to AX Server in the exported project.
Note
The exported tables may be the ones initially imported into AX Server with the project, or they may tables that were assembled on AX Server after the import.
Items excluded from ACL project exports
The following items are not exported with ACL projects:
- Related Files sub-folder you must select this sub-folder specifically to export it, however analytic input files are not included
- log files you must select log files specifically to export them
Exporting ACL tables
When you export tables separately, a new ACL project is created in the export destination to hold the tables.
You can select whether or not to include the source .fil data files along with the tables. If you do not export the source files, the exported tables become server tables connected to AX Server in the exported project.
Note
Two projects are created if you export tables from the Data sub-folder and Results sub-folder simultaneously.
Export a folder item
- From the Server Explorer, select the item or item(s) or sub-folder you want to export and then from the menu, select File > Export.
- Optional. To open the item(s) automatically after the export completes, select Work with the exported file(s).
Note
The item(s) only open if their native application is installed on your desktop computer.
If you are exporting multiple items, they are only opened if a single instance of a single application can accommodate opening them. If the items cannot be automatically opened, the export destination folder is automatically opened instead.
- Optional. To export any source data files associated with tables you are exporting, select Export data files along with selected definitions. For more information, see Exporting ACL tables.
- Specify a full path to the export destination or click Browse and select the destination.
- To export the item(s), click OK.
If an item already exists in the export destination, click Yes to overwrite the item or No to cancel the export of that particular item.
