Managing AX Connector

The AX Connector is installed on AX Server as a Windows Service. The service manages access to AX Server server tables through Analytics. By default, the service is configured to run unattended whenever Windows is running.

AX Engine Node

The AX Connector is also installed on AX Engine Node, but it is not installed as a Windows Service. On the analytic server, the AX Connector is used by the AX Engine to access AX Server server tables.

The Analytics Exchange Connector Windows service

You can change the following default settings for the Windows service:

• username and/or password of the Windows account used to run the service
• the startup settings for the service
• parameters such as logging level that are set for the AX Connector service executable (aclsesvc.exe).

Change the AX Connector service settings

1. Open a command prompt and enter the sc config command with the values you want to change specified as parameters.

   For sc config syntax, see AX Connector service configuration syntax.

2. Restart the service:
   1. Enter net stop AXConnector.
   2. Enter net start AXConnector.

Change the AX Connector service log on account

Change the service account to reset the password or to use an account other than the default Local System account.

1. On your operating system, from the Administrative Tools dialog box, click Services.
2. In the list of services, right-click AX Connector service, select Properties, and then click the Log On tab.
3. Select This Account and complete the following information and then click OK:
   • In the This Account field, enter the account name or click Browse and locate the account you want to use.
   • In the Password field and Confirm Password field, enter the password.

Change AX Connector service startup type

1. On your operating system, from the Administrative Tools dialog box, click Services.
2. In the list of services, right-click AX Connector service and select Properties.
3. From the Startup type list, select one of the following and then click OK:
   • Automatic the service starts when Windows starts (Recommended)
   • Manual you must manually start the service when you want it to run
   • Disabled prevents the service from being started by the system or by a user

Change AX Connector configuration settings

The settings for AX Connector are stored in the acl.conf file in the analytic_engine\aclse\conf sub-folder where AX Server is installed.

To change the settings, open the file in a text editor, make your changes, and then restart the AX Connector service.

View AX Connector log files

To view AX Connector log files, in the analytic_engine\aclse\log sub-folder of the AX Server, open one of the following files:

• aclsesvc1.log records logging information for the AX Connector Windows service
• aclse1.log records logging information for the aclse.exe application that processes database connections
