Installing and configuring AX Link

AX Link provides direct access to SAP data through ACL Analytics Exchange analytics by allowing analytic developers to include commands that retrieve data from SAP ERP systems. AX Link is an optional component that can be purchased if you require access to SAP ERP data.

If you want to run analytics that include the ACLScript commands that read data from SAP ERP systems (IMPORT SAP, RETRIEVE, and the REFRESH command for Direct Link tables), you must install and configure AX Link. Analytics that include SAP-specific commands will fail unless the required installation and configuration has been completed on the server processing the analytic.

AX Link must be installed on each server where the AX Engine will be used to run analytics. If you are only running analytics on AX Server then the installation only needs to be completed in this single location. If you are running analytics on one or more instances of AX Engine Node, you need to complete all of the installation steps on each server.

There are two distinct process that must be completed before you can use AX Link:

  1. The SAP GUI must be installed on AX Server and all instances of AX Engine Node you have configured. The SAP Logon Pad on each of these servers must be configured so that it contains connection information for all target SAP ERP systems. This configuration will need to be completed by, or require the assistance of, your organizations SAP Basis Administrator.

  2. AX Link must be installed on the AX Server and all instances of AX Engine Node using the AX Link setup wizard. This installation must be completed by a user with Administrator rights on the server.
