AX Server for Oracle installation

Note

In order to perform the installation, configuration, or upgrade of AX Server for Oracle you must have Administrator rights on the servers where the components are being installed or upgraded.

If Oracle is selected as the database platform for AX Server, the AX Server setup wizard installs all of the application files and configures application settings including the settings necessary to connect to an Oracle database. The setup wizard can also, optionally, create the Oracle schema for AX Server.

Before you run the setup wizard, your Oracle database administrator needs to configure an Oracle database instance for AX Server. At a minimum, the DBA must complete the following:

Note

You must run the following scripts in the specified order.

  1. Run the CREATE_AX_TABLESPACES.sql script to define the physical allocation of space for the database.

  2. Run the Create Database User.sql script to create the AX Server database user. The V_USER and V_USERPWD variables must be updated before running the script. For details about updating the user variables, see “Running Oracle database scripts” in the ACL Analytics Exchange Server Administrator Guide.

The Oracle configuration may be more complicated and may involve some or all of the following steps:

  • Installing Oracle

  • Setting up a new instance

  • Configuring security certificates for encryption

  • Running all of the AX Server SQL scripts manually to create the AX Server database user and schema

  • Implementing a backup process

For more information on the required configuration, see “Administering Oracle” in theACL Analytics Exchange Server Administrator Guide.

In addition to having an Oracle database instance configured for AX Server the following information is required to complete the installation:

  • The type of ACL Analytics Exchange authentication to use (form-based or Integrated Windows Authentication) and the required Active Directory settings if Integrated Windows Authentication will be used. You can switch the type of authentication used at any point after installation. For more information, see .

  • The Windows account to use to run the ACL Analytics Exchange Geronimo service.

  • The default Active Directory domain to use if users do not specify a domain when they log in. The default domain is automatically filled in during the installation process, but you must confirm that the suggested value is correct.

  • The settings to use to connect to the ACL Analytics Exchange database including the Oracle version in use (10g R2, 11g R1, and 11g R2 are supported), the Oracle server IP address, the HTTP and HTTPS port numbers if they are different from the default values, the database service name, and the user name and password for the ACL Analytics Exchange database user account. You should also know whether the encryption option should be selected.
