Upgrading AX Server for ACL Analytics 11.2

In order for ACL Analytics Exchange version 5.0 to work with ACL Analytics 11.2.0 or 11.2.1, you must upgrade the AX Server and AX Engine Node. The upgrade updates the version of the AX Connector and the AX Engine, and installs additional required prerequisites if they are not present on the server.

Important

You must upgrade AX Server and AX Engine Node to work with ACL Analytics 11.2.0 before upgrading for ACL Analytics 11.2.1.

You need to download and extract the compressed installer file (ACLAX500UpdateToACLAnalytics112x.zip) from ACL Launchpad (www.aclgrc.com) before starting the following procedure. The compressed installer file includes two installers:

  • ACLAX500UpdateToACLAnalytics1120.exe – Use this installer to update ACL Analytics Exchange 5.0 to work with ACL Analytics 11.2.0. You must run this installer first.

  • ACLAX500UpdateToACLAnalytics1121.exe – Use this installer to update ACL Analytics Exchange 5.0 to work with ACL Analytics 11.2.1. You must run ACLAX500UpdateToACLAnalytics1120.exe before you run this installer.

Note

Depending on which version of ACL Analytics you are currently using, you may need to complete the upgrade procedure twice – once to upgrade from ACL Analytics 11.1 to 11.2.0 and again to upgrade from ACL Analytics 11.2.0 to 11.2.1.

To upgrade the AX Connector and AX Engine:

  1. If you are performing the upgrade during working hours, notify AX Client and AX Web Client users in advance to log out.

Once you stop the AX Server services, no one can access AX Server.

  2. In AX Client, check to make sure no analytics are currently running, queued, or scheduled to run shortly.

If your planned upgrade conflicts with the running of analytics, perform the upgrade at a different time, reschedule queued or scheduled analytics, or enable maintenance mode on the AX Server. For more information, see the ACL Analytics Exchange Client User Guide and the ACL Analytics Exchange Server Configuration User Guide.

  3. Stop the AX Server services in the following order: AX Connector, ACL Analytics Exchange Geronimo, PostgreSQL (if applicable). If the services are not stopped in the correct order, problems can occur with the functioning of AX Server. You must stop the services found on all instances of AX Engine Node, and then on AX Server, and then on the PostgreSQL server if the AX Server PostgreSQL database is installed on a separate server from AX Server.
    Note

Although Windows may indicate within a few seconds that the ACL Analytics Exchange Geronimo service is stopped (or started), the Apache Geronimo application server may take approximately a minute to actually stop (or start), depending on the speed of your server hardware. The stop/start process is recorded in the geronimo_service log file.

In the AX Server Configuration web application, you can check the Engine Nodes section for a list of AX Engine Node servers used by AX Server.

  4. Do one of the following:
    • If you are upgrading for ACL Analytics 11.1 to 11.2.0, double-click ACLAX500UpdateToACLAnalytics1120.exe.

    • If you are upgrading for ACL Analytics 11.2.0 to 11.2.1, double-click ACLAX500UpdateToACLAnalytics1121.exe

  5. Select the appropriate language for your installation and click OK.
  6. In the Setup Extraction Location page, accept the default location or specify the folder where the installation files will be extracted, and click Extract.

The default destination folder is C:\Users\<User_Name>\Downloads\ACL Installers\ACLAX500UpdateToACLAnalytics<version>.exe.

  7. If you are prompted to install prerequisites, click Install. After the prerequisites are installed, the installer automatically proceeds.
  8. The Welcome page displays the current version of ACLScript.exe. Click Next.
  9. In the Ready to Install the Program page, click Install.
  10. Click Finish
  11. The setup wizard starts the AX Connector service on the AX Server automatically. You should stop this service and start the services in the order listed in the next step.
  12. Restart all the AX Server services in the following order: PostgreSQL (if applicable), ACL Analytics Exchange Geronimo, AX Connector. If the services are not started in the correct order, problems can occur with the functioning of AX Server. You must start the services found on the PostgreSQL server if the AX Server PostgreSQL database is installed on a separate server from AX Server server, and then on AX Server server, and then on all instances of AX Engine Node.
