Viewing and exporting attachments

You can view attachments that have been shared by others either from the message they were sent in or from the conversation details. You may be able to export attachments unless this has been restricted by your Site Administrator.

View an attachment

  1. Go to the conversation the attachment has been sent to.

  2. Select the message with the attachment.

  3. Select the attachment icon.

  4. After the file is downloaded, it opens automatically for viewing.

    Note

    Attachments that you've successfully downloaded appear with a small green icon under the file name. These attachments can be viewed even if you're offline.

Print, email, or export an attachment

Note

Sharing and exporting options are not available if the Secure attachments setting is enabled by your administrator. This provides an additional layer of control to files sent across your organization. When this feature is enabled, attachments can only be viewed within the Messenger iOS app and cannot be saved or viewed externally.

  1. Go to the conversation where the attachment has been sent.

  2. Select the message with the attachment.

  3. Select the attachment icon.

  4. Select the export icon .

    The apps that appear in the export list will depend on which apps are installed on your device. The behavior of the export will depend on the app.

  • To close the document and return to Messenger iOS, select the back arrow.

  • To re-open it, select the attachment icon again.

Note

  • Attachments will expire on the same schedule as messages; contact your site administrator or Diligent Support team for more information on your organization's expiration scheduling.

  • If you are removed from a group, you will also lose access to attachments sent to that group.
