Contingent questions

This topic describes how to add contingent questions, which only appear to respondents who have provided a specific answer to an earlier List question.

  1. When adding a question of any type, select Make question contingent. This option only appears if a list question has already been created and placed earlier in the questionnaire.

  2. From the window that appears, select the List question that determines whether this contingent question is hidden or displayed, then select "OK."

    Note

Only List questions appear as an option in this window.

  3. Select the answer or answers to the selected List question that will cause this contingent question to appear. If you select multiple answers, this contingent question will become visible if the respondent chooses any of them.

  4. Fill out the remainder of the question window as you would for that question type.

  5. Select Save.

  6. The contingent question appears in the Questionnaire Builder with a Contingent label. It only appears to a respondent when they have selected a previous answer or answers as defined in Step 3.
