Device authorization and 2FA: the end-user experience
Device authorization and two-factor authentication (2FA) provide an additional level of security for your users by adding a few steps to the sign-in process. Device authorization requires any device using a Boards application, like Boards iOS, to be authorized the first time it is used. 2FA requires a security code to be entered when signing in to Boards Web Admin.
Note
To enable device authorization and 2FA for users on your site, contact your Customer Success Manager.

In order for a user to access Boards on any iOS or Windows device, they first need to sign in on that device. Upon signing in, they will automatically be presented with the Device Authorization screen.
-
The message that appears in the Device Authorization dialog can be customized. Notify your Account Manager if you would like to change it.
-
Upon selecting Authorize, the user will be prompted to enter an authorization PIN. This PIN can be provided by an administrator or Diligent Support.
-
After entering a valid PIN, the user can select the Submit PIN button to continue. They will not need to enter the PIN again to access Boards content on their device.
2FA
-
In order for a user to access Boards, they first need to sign in. Upon signing in, they will automatically be presented with the security code page.
-
When the user is presented with this page, they will also receive a security code via SMS text message on their mobile phone. The number the code is sent to is configured by Diligent when 2FA is enabled on the site.
Note
Diligent will only ever use these mobile numbers to send security codes and related security information.
-
After entering the received code, the user can select the Continue button. They will need to enter a new security code every time they sign in to Boards.
