The different email types

This article explains the difference between the three types of emails in your Diligent Boards account: sign-in email, board email, and account email.

Sign-in email

The sign-in email is a user identifier, just like a username. While it has the email format, it is not used for communication purposes. The sign-in email is a designated credential to access Diligent Boards. Any communication related to the user’s account or book content are distributed via the account email or board email on file.

Board email

The board email (also called the "contact email") is used for organization-specific notifications, including notifications about books, documents, and approvals. This email address is specific to each Boards site. Users can only have one board email for each Boards site.

Account email

The account email is used to receive communications that impact a user’s access to their Boards account. For example, the self-service recovery process uses this email for delivering verification codes for password resets or recovering site names or sign-in emails. The account email is not board/organization specific, and it is shared across all sites a user has access to. Each user can have more than one account email.
