Key concepts

This section defines the core terms and concepts you’ll come across as you work in ACL AI Studio.

  • Dataset A dataset in ACL AI Studio is a structured collection of data uploaded as an Excel or CSV file. You can upload files from your system or from the ACL Robots that you have access to. Datasets serve as the foundational units for analysis and collaboration within the platform.

  • Collaborator A collaborator is a user assigned a specific role (Owner, Editor, Reviewer) for a dataset, governing their access and editing privileges. Only collaborators can view and work on a given dataset, and roles determine what actions each user can perform.

  • Source tables Source tables are created when you upload external or ACL Robots data in CSV or Excel format. The AI generates the dataset summary from the source table associated with the dataset.

  • Analysis library The library that stores all completed analyses, whether they are AI-suggested or ones you started for a dataset.

  • Activity logging Activity logging keeps a permanent record of important actions in ACL AI Studio. It captures events such as creating, editing, or deleting datasets and tables, and managing collaborators. The logs provide a dependable history of user actions, analyses activities, and data changes. You can view app and dataset activity logs and export them in CSV or Excel format.

  • Data lineage Data lineage tracks the origin, history, and transformation of data in ACL AI Studio. It presents a visual diagram showing how data flows and changes. When you hover over a node, the path of the data is highlighted. Selecting a node, whether it represents a source table or an output table, opens that table’s details page.

  • Output tables When you save the interim snapshots that the AI generates from your natural language or SQL queries during an analysis, output tables are created. You can download these tables in CSV or Excel format, or publish them to Activity Center for further analysis.

Workflow

The ACL AI Studio workflow involves the following steps:

  1. Upload data Begin by creating a dataset, importing an Excel or CSV file, and adding relevant metadata. You can upload files from your system or from the ACL Robots that you have access to.

  2. Analyze data View AI-generated summaries, use suggested analyses, and interact with the conversational AI using natural language or SQL query. Edit and iterate on queries as required.

  3. Save results Generate output tables (with AI-suggested names), store queries and metadata.

  4. Export tables Download and export tables in Excel or CSV formats for future reference or share them by publishing to Activity Center.

  5. Collaborate Share datasets with team members so that they can contribute to the analysis.
