Set up two-factor authentication for BoardEffect (iPad or iPhone)

You can use two-factor authentication to securely sign in to your BoardEffect account. When you sign in with two-factor authentication, you are required to enter a one time passcode in addition to your username and password. This topic describes how to set up and verify two-factor authentication from your mobile device or tablet.

  1. To begin, select the BoardEffect app.
  2. Next, authorize your device by entering your username and password, then select Authorize your device. If this is your first time signing in, enter the username and temporary password provided by the BoardEffect System administrator.
  3. To open the BoardEffect platform, select your platform name.
  4. To sign in to your account, enter your username and password, and then select Login.
  5. You can authenticate your account by generating a one time passcode via email or soft token. To generate a one time passcode via email, select Email. For instructions about using soft token, go to step 8.
  6. An email will be sent to the email address associated with your BoardEffect account. To verify two-factor authentication, copy the six digit code in the email.
  7. Enter the code in the Verification code field, and then select "Verify".
  8. To generate a one time passcode via soft token, select Soft Token. This authentication type requires an authenticator app to randomly generate a passcode. You can download and use any third-party authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator or Authy, on your mobile phone or tablet.
  9. Next, you can scan the QR Code or use a setup token in your authenticator app.
  10. To scan the QR code, open the authenticator app on your mobile phone, and then select Scan barcode.
  11. After you scan the barcode, a six digit code appears in the authenticator app.
  12. Enter the code in the Verification code field, and then select "Verify".
  13. You can also use a setup token to generate a one time passcode. To begin, select Show setup token.
  14. A window appears with the setup token. Copy the setup token.
  15. Next, open the authenticator app on your mobile phone or tablet, and then select manual entry.

  16. Enter your email address in the Account field.

  17. Paste the setup token in the Key field.

  18. A six digit code appears in the authenticator app.
  19. Enter the code in the Verification code field, and then select "Verify". You'll be taken to the BoardEffect Landing page.
