Request to speak

You can update the code of conduct and email template to reflect the state statute or board policy you follow when the public addresses the board during a meeting. When you’re ready for the public to view your code of conduct and submit requests to speak from the Public site, enable the request to speak option. For more information, see Public request to speak.

  1. To open the Public request to speak page, from the left navigation, select Settings and then select Request to speak.

  2. On the Settings page that appears, select the Public request to speak tab.

  3. You can view placeholder text in the Code of conduct summary and Code of conduct fields. Update the text in each field to set a tone of professionalism and respect and to create a welcoming environment for meeting attendees. The code of conduct also establishes expectations of attendees and can list the procedures to follow when expectations are not met. Select the placeholder text, then enter new text to update the code of conduct as needed.

  4. To view the Email template: Request to speak approved fields, move down the page. When you approve a request to speak, the text that displays in the Email body text field is sent through email to the person who submitted the request.

  5. Select the placeholder text in the Email body text field to enter new text or update the content or instructions as needed.

  6. If you would like the public to view your code of conduct and submit requests to speak from the Public site, turn on the Request to speak toggle. By default, the request to speak option is disabled, so the public cannot create or submit a request to speak using the Public site.

  7. To save your changes, select Save on the top right of the page.
