User Defined Menus for Banners
User Defined Menus can be easily applied to Banners.
- Select where you want to create User Defined Menus for banners by selecting Master, Companies, Individuals, Other Entities, Data Library or Incorporations.
- Select 'Banners' under the Search In dropdown menu.
- Use the For dropdown menu to select whether you want to create a User Defined Menu within an existing banner (for example, Global Banner), or use the User Defined Banners to set up a new banner.
Up to 10 User Defined Banners can be created within the Diligent Entities.
Creating a User Defined Banner
Creating a User defined banner is a three stage process:
- Select one of the 10 User Defined Banners available (for example, User Defined Banner 2):
- Rename it by selecting the Wand icon at the beginning of the line:
- After defining the name of the banner, you will be able to start creating sections (i.e. icons) that will appear under this banner.
To do this:
- Select New.
Add a Shortcut or Link
Shortcuts and Links can be created by selecting one of the following options.
Data Section
Data Library Type The Data Library is where additional information regarding a Company or person can be stored. It is made up of categories, which consist of one or more types. The categories group together common types of information, for example, the Category Legal Department could consist of Contracts, Agreements and Powers of Attorney. If selected, this can be a link to the Data Library records created for one type of Data Library within a specific category (for example, a link to Contracts within the Legal Department). Alternatively, it could be a link to all Data Library records within one category, regardless of the type, for example, Contracts, Agreements and Powers of attorney (i.e. all types within the Legal Department category).
Search Page This is a link to a search page (for example, Companies Search, Pending Events, etc.), including a saved search. For example, it can be a link to a group of Companies that you manage.
Company/Individual/Other Entity A link to a particular entity, which will save you having to filter and search for it.
Stored/Attached Document A link to a form or document that the system has automatically generated, or to a document that you have uploaded to the Working Documents, Document Store or the Data Library. Note that in order to create this link, you will need to enter the Document Reference. This is a code that is automatically assigned to the document after its production or upload to the system and can be obtained from the Working Documents, Document Store or Data Library.
Data Library Record A link to one particular Data Library entry that has been recorded. The Data Library reference will need to be entered in order to set up the link. This reference is automatically given to the record following its recording. It is advisable to contact your Internal IT or our Product Support Team for information on how to acquire this reference.
New Data Library Record Link to the New button within the particular Data Library type
Online Search Links to various corporate body websites can be set up and utilised to search for a Company's name or number, as illustrated below.
Templates Section
Report Wizard and Document Wizard These allow you to set up direct links to run a particular report, for example, the Report of Appointments.
In-Page Report and Inline HTML Report These allow you to set up links to custom-made reports/views.
Reporting Services Report and ReportIt Report These work in conjunction with the RS Interact and ReportIt modules, advanced Ad-hoc reporting solutions allowing Users to create and tailor reports for their Diligent Entities database.
Navigation Section
Portal Link to a portal page. This will be discussed further on.
Popup Menu Link to a pop-up menu. This will be discussed further on.
External Site or URL This will be a link to an external website, for example, Companies House, or Google. It allows you to quickly access external websites without having to open a new web browser.
Several links can be created for each toolbar.
ReportIt Portal This allows you to set up a link to the ReportIt Portal.
- Make your selection and select Next. The second screen will display fields specific to the type of link that you opted for on the previous page. The screenshot below is an example of what information appears if External site or URL is chosen on the Menu Link To page.
- Enter a name for the link, followed by the URL of the site to which the link should take you, and select the appropriate window size (for example, large window), as well as your preferred opening method (i.e. whether the site should open separately or on the current window).
- Select Next should you want to add an image to your link and apply security restrictions to it (for example, if the link should only be displayed for certain users). Alternatively, select Finish to complete the Wizard at this stage.
To display the new banner navigate to:
- System Tools > System Security > User Policies
- Select to display the relevant banner(s).
