Regime Mapping: Senior Management Functions (SMFs)

Regime Mapping is terminology used in the tool to describe, depending on the Regime, either the process of assigning Functions and Responsibilities/Conditions to relevant Individuals, or to indicate that certain Individuals are approved to function in a regulated Entity.

SMF Mapping

To prepare Senior Management Functions (SMFs) for assignment:

  • Navigate to the Mapping Tool page by selecting the Mapping Tool tab.
  • If the Entity in question has multiple Filing Records associated with it, ensure that the correct one is selected (in this case, United Kingdom: Senior Managers Regime) from the dropdown list in the Filing field.
  • The status of all SMFs is initially set to Unassigned.
  • Select the Double Chevron icon to open up the right-hand side of the screen from where you can select Individuals to map to different SMFs.
  • On the left-hand side of the screen, the Options Menu next to the Unassigned status allows you to set any of the SMFs to either Does Not Apply, or to state that the Function in question is Open.
  • Setting the Function to Does Not Apply will prompt the user to enter a reason for why it is not applicable. For example, No Roles in the FCA reflect this SMF. This entry is mandatory.
  • Setting the Function to Open allows Users to assign Responsibilities to the SMF in question prior to selecting the Individual who should hold the SMF. The dialogue box enables a note to be entered for users to reference.
