Diligent Entities System Requirements

Introduction

To ensure that you receive optimal performance from your Web application we recommend that you run it on a hardware and software system that matches or exceeds the highest specifications in this System Requirements document.

As with all system requirements, it is only possible to give guidelines based upon the environment that the application will be used within. Server hardware specifications for three different environments, based on the number of concurrent users and companies maintained, are shown. There are also differences in the client software requirements, depending on whether update access or read-only access is needed.

Our recommended options are highlighted in bold.

This information is provided only as a guideline. A suitable configuration of software and hardware will depend on individual circumstances. Formal recommendations can only be given upon detailed analysis of requirements.

Note

Although the application will run with the minimum specifications shown below, it will not provide optimal performance, so we strongly recommend that the highest specifications are adopted: system performance may be adversely affected by unsuitable software or hardware.

There are many other factors which can affect performance, such as the number of companies maintained within the application and the performance of LAN or WAN networks.

	Notes
1	We strongly recommend that the Web Server and the Database Server are installed on separate machines and that these machines are not shared with any other software.
2	Excessive disk IO on physical host hardware running virtual instances will, to a greater or lesser extent, have an adverse impact on Entities performance. We suggest that defragmentation software is considered for workstations and servers that are heavily used, but this is not a requirement.
3	The Document Indexing/Searching feature requires the installation of an additional database component: Full-Text Searching is an optional part of the SQL Server database software, so clients will need to ensure that this is installed for it to work in Entities.
4	ActivePDF Server Recommended ActivePDFServer 20131 which requires Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 installed, .NET Framework 3.5 is included on the installation CD. Other supported: ActivePDF Server 20102 1. If using 64-bit application, requires ActivePDF Server 2013. 2. Only if used by an existing client, as 2010 is no longer sold or supported by ActivePDF.
5	Blueprint Web Image (Charts & Gauges) requires Microsoft .NET Framework v2.0 to be installed, and >NET v2.0 is included on the installation CD. Internet Information Services (IIS) v6 or higher needs to be available.
6	ActivePDF DocConverter (APDC) requires Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 installed, and the install for .NET 3.5 is included on the installation CD. Also Microsoft Office 2010 must be installed beforehand on the APDC server. Recommended: ActivePDF DocConverter 2015
7	Web Server – O/S Supported – we only test the application on the latest Service Pack of each supported O/S.
8	UK Forms – If clients need to produce UK statutory forms, then Frutiger Fonts must be purchased and installed on the Web Server to accurately re-produce UK forms. Contact your CSM for a quote.
9	Multiple Web Server Installations – If installing on multiple servers for example, Test and production, some additional 3rd party licences maybe required. Contact your CSM for a quote.

The machine with the AutoReminder "Service" installed also needs to have the following: An SMTP Server that is available to the AutoReminder Service AutoReminder Client installed, for administering the AutoReminder Service* AutoReminder Tasks (Alerts) imported "Read-only" access to the Diligent Entities data files wherever these are located for the Tasks (Alerts) to check the data. Note The "client" tools can be installed on a separate machine to handle and manage the service (on the server). Remotely, this functionality is only applicable for AutoReminder "Enterprise Edition".
