Managing emission activities
Activities are any business activities that generate emissions that you want to measure and report. For example, business travel is an activity, and business travel by plane is an activity type. You can use Diligent ESG to configure and manage activities, and to add emissions consumption data to that activity.
You can upload data into the Diligent ESG system using the following options:
-
Manual data upload For further information, go to Adding a data item to an activity in Uploading activities and activity data.
-
Bulk data upload For further information, go toUploading activity data in bulk.
-
Multi-Site upload For further information, go to Uploading activity data in bulk.
Note
Before you can begin adding consumption data for your emissions activity, you must create an activity for each asset or building that is already setup on the system. For further information, go to Adding an activity.
Once a transport activity is created in the GHG activity screen, if will also appear in the transport screen if it is for a UK company and covered under ESOS. You do not need to create the activity twice. When an activity is created in the transport screen or EED screen it will also appear in GHG Activities screen.
Difference between single activity upload and multi-site upload
Single activity upload can only upload one spreadsheet per activity per building at a time. There can be multiple activity types in the spreadsheet, but only one activity. While the Multi-Activity Upload can upload multiple activities of the same categories to numerous buildings.
For example: single activity upload is most commonly used by a user who has a spreadsheet for a particular activity where it is more time consuming to input the data one at a time manually such as an electricity meter supplier statement for 12 months. While the Multi-Activity excel upload is most commonly used when the user wants to upload a excel spreadsheet or csv file that contains say electricity meter data for multiple activities of the same category in over 55 buildings.
High and low frequency data
In order to enable the system to process the data in the most efficient means possible, the user must choose between High Frequency Meter Data or Low Frequency data.
High frequency is used when dealing with energy data of multiple items of data per day, with the interval between each reading less than 24 hours. For example half hourly meter data for natural gas, water and electricity.
Low frequency is used for data with a maximum of one data point per week. For example weekly, monthly and bimonthly data. If an uploading spreadsheet contains both low frequency and high frequency data, choose the High Frequency Meter Data for maximum efficiency.
