Filtering in Diligent ESG
After you navigate to your desired screen, you can filter the data on that screen using the emissions and sustainability filters. By making selections in these filters, you can search and filter the results shown on-screen until you find your required output. The following filters are present on most screens that contain emissions or sustainability data, but some filters may only appear on specific screens:
- Tree view Refine the organizational or geographical entity, or entities, which are displayed in the Dashboards, Data Management, Documents, Analysis, and Reports sections and some settings screens.
- Scope Refine the scopes which are displayed or reported using checkboxes.
- Source Categories Refine the emissions activity categories which are displayed or reported using checkboxes.
- Activity Type Refine the emissions activity types which are displayed or reported using checkboxes.
- Activity InputsRefine the emissions activity inputs which are displayed or reported using checkboxes.
- Data Streams Refine where the data was sourced from, such as invoices or meter readings using checkboxes.
- Date picker Refine the period of time for which data is displayed or report using the date picker and Year, Quarter, or Month options.
Viewing location-based and market-based emissions
You can view location-based emissions and market-based emissions separately within the GHG Activities and Reports screens. You can switch between the location-based and market-based methodology to view the difference in the emissions taking into account the consumed and purchased electricity.
Viewing location-based and market-based emissions in GHG Activities
-
Select Data Management from the toolbar and select GHG Activities.
-
In the Data Filters section, expand the Scope section.
In Scope 2 Reporting Methodology section, the system displays the location-based emissions by default.
-
Select Market-based to view the market-based emissions.
Viewing location-based and market-based emissions in Reports
You can run a GHG Emissions Inventory or GHG Emissions Trend instant report that focuses on location-based or market-based emissions. You can choose the type of report and information to be displayed using the filters. For further information about creating a report, go to Reporting in Diligent ESG.
-
Select Reports from the toolbar and select Instant Reports.
In Report Data Filters section, the report displays the location-based emissions by default.
-
Expand the Scope 2 Reporting section and select Market-based to view the market-based emissions.
Geographic and organisational nodes
Geographical Structure
All carbon calculations must use the appropriate emissions factors and methodologies for the location where they originated. The geographic structures are automatically defined by the software upon creation of facilities in the facilities screen and each building/asset then has activities associated with it. These are arranged by country, region, state/county, city, address line 1, and address line 2.
Organisational Structure
The software allows organisational entities such as business units and cost centres to be mapped onto geographic locations and sub structures. The key driver and benefit of this functionality is to allow organisations to report their greenhouse gas and sustainability metrics in the same familiar reporting structure as their financial reporting.
Switching between geographical and organisational view
You can change from viewing the default organisational structure to viewing the organisation geographically by selecting the desired tab in the organisational tree-view structure on the left of the screen within the dashboards screen and in other screens.
-
Select the Organisation tab to view the charts, reports, and data organised based on the organisation structure.
-
Select the Geographic tab to view the facilities, buildings, and assets arranged by geographic address.
