Uploading activity data with Quick Connect

Use Quick Connect to email activity data directly to Diligent ESG, either manually or automatically receive emails from other systems, such as energy or building management systems. This feature reduces the data entry time and possibility of human error.Diligent ESG requires certain information from you to configure the application to receive your data through Quick Connect.

SFTP

Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) is not available within the system. For semi-automated uploads, you can use the Quick Connect process.

Configuring Quick Connect uploads

Diligent ESG requires certain information from you to configure the application to receive your data through Quick Connect.

Note

You must have the company administrator user role to configure Quick Connect.

  1. Select the Settings icon and then select Manage Settings > Quick Connect.
  2. Select Add upload configuration to create the configuration for data uploads by email.
  3. In the Configure upload settings window, configure the main settings for the data upload:
    • Scope: From the dropdown, select a scope type, such as Scope 1.

    • Source category: From the dropdown, select the desired source category, such as Mobile Combustion.

    • Activity type: From the dropdown, select the desired activity type, such as Road Transport.

    • Description: Enter a description for the type of data upload. This will help you identify the configuration in the future.

    • Email subject must contain: Enter a subject line of the email which you want to send to Diligent ESG. Quick Connect uses this subject line to collect the email and data included and upload it for your company using this configuration.

    • Automated upload of data: Specify whether the upload will occur manually or automatically. For more information, go to Configuring email settings for manual uploads or Configuring email settings for automated uploads.

  4. Select Configure settings to finish adding the upload configuration.

    TheUpload configurations section displays your new upload configuration.

  5. (Optional) Expand the new configuration and select Edit configuration to make changes to it.

  6. (Optional) Select Add upload configuration and repeat the steps to add another configuration.

Configuring email settings for manual uploads

  1. Deselect the Automated upload of data checkbox and select Next.
  2. In the Add user email address field, enter an email address to search for and select the address to add it to the list.

  3. (Optional) Select the Delete icon to remove an email address from the list.

Configuring email settings for automated uploads

  1. Select the Automated upload of data checkbox and select Next.
  2. In the Add automated upload email addresses field, enter your email address of the automated upload system that can send data to Quick Connect. You can only add one email address at a time.
  3. Select Add.
  4. (Optional) Select the Delete icon to remove a email address from the list.

Deleting an existing upload configuration

  1. In the Upload configurations section, expand the configuration that you want to delete.

  2. Select the Delete icon .
  3. The Delete upload configuration window opens.

  4. Select Delete to delete the upload configuration.

Adding Quick Connect configurations

You must add a Quick Connect configuration using the Bulk Uploader tool similar to other data uploads. Every time that you add a new Quick Connect configuration file for a selected activity, Diligent ESG automatically assigns that as the default file for that activity.

  1. Select the Settings icon and then select Quick Connect.
  2. In the Data Type tab, select the activity and data type. These should match the activity and data type that you configured for a Quick Connect upload in Configuring Quick Connect uploads.
  3. In the Upload File Selection tab, select Select and upload your template spreadsheet.
  4. Note

    If you are using your own template, not the Diligent ESG template, you may need to manually map the columns with the correct column titles. For further information about Diligent ESG spreadsheet template, go to Formatting your spreadsheets for bulk uploads.

  5. Select the checkbox beside the option that you want for the column headings in the uploaded file, such as First row has column names or Specify row for column names, enter a specific row number if needed, and select Next.
  6. In the Quick Connect configurations tab, select Select in the Quick Connect configuration row that you configured previously and select Next. The description should match what you included in Configuring Quick Connect uploads.
  7. In the Mapping Configuration tab, select the sheet and unique ID column from the dropdowns and select the Enable Automapping Feature checkbox to automatically match the upload file's columns to Diligent ESG’s data fields.

  8. Select Next.

    The Upload Configuration section automatically maps the column titles to the Uploaded File Columns dropdowns, including non-mandatory dropdowns. You must map all mandatory fields with an asterisk (*) beside them otherwise the upload will fail.

  9. If a column is incorrectly mapped or not mapped automatically, select the column in error dropdown, select the correct column title or to remove the spreadsheet’s data from the column, select Select a column, and then select Next.

  10. Select Finish to complete the file upload.

    After you upload, Diligent ESG runs validation on all columns, non-mandatory and mandatory.

  11. Select the Import History tab, and in the Progress column you can check the upload status.

  12. After your upload for the mapping is complete, select Complete beside the Quick Connect upload

Uploading data with Quick Connect

In the Quick Connect email address section of the Quick Connect settings page, you can find a unique email address that is configured for your company, that you will send your data to. Use this pre-configured email address for your manual or automated data upload by email.

Note

If you want to upload data using an automated system with Quick Connect, you must contact the Support or Implementation team.

  1. Copy the pre-configured email address.
  2. Create a new email.

  3. In the To field, enter the pre-configured email address for your company.

  4. In the Subject field, enter the subject line that you setup in Configuring Quick Connect uploads.

  5. Attach the spreadsheet file with your data to the new email and select Send.

The uploaded data will appear in the Upload History tab of Multi-Site Upload. All Quick Connect data uploads will be registered as Automatic in the Upload Type column.
