Use AI to compare standard or regulation versions

Compliance Maps uses the Diligent AI Assistant to identify the changes between two versions of the same selected regulatory document pairs. The comparison streamlines your change management process by focusing on updates versus having to review the entire document.

Severity ranking

Changes are ranked by severity which can be filtered to help you focus on critical changes early in the review process. The overall severity of the document changes shown as Significant changes, Moderate changes, or Minor changes. You can sort on the severity ranking determined by Diligent AI Assistant.

Minor Changes:

  • Formatting or stylistic changes that do not impact the meaning
  • Spelling or grammar corrections
  • Minor clarifications or rewording that do not change core meaning
  • Changes in the examples used that do not impact overall scope
  • Small quantitative adjustments in thresholds, limits, and so on

Moderate Changes:

  • Additions or removals of definitions that expand or limit scope
  • Modifications to duties, processes, procedures, or requirements
  • Changes in legal authority or precedence
  • Additions or removals of sections or clauses that impact applicability
  • Moderate expansions or restrictions in jurisdiction or scope

Significant Changes

  • Major reorganization of structure, order, and layout
  • Removal or replacement of key provisions, clauses, or terms
  • Fundamental changes in duties, rights, responsibilities, or liabilities
  • Major quantitative changes in thresholds, limits, or penalties
  • Changes in core approach, methodology, or scoring and rating systems
  • Broad changes in legal scope, jurisdiction, and applicability

The relative impact of any specific change depends on the particular regulations and how integral the changed components are. In general, minor changes have little substantive impact, moderate changes have clear impacts, and significant changes fundamentally alter the meaning or requirements.

Using the comparision

Use the following steps to compare versions.

  1. Once a regulation is imported to Compliance Maps, select the Diligent AI Assistant icon to compare versions.
    The Diligent AI Assistant icon is also available on the Compliance Library to denote available comparisons, but the icon is not active.
  2. After the affected regulation is imported to the Compliance Maps, in the Actions column, select the three dots, the icon, then AI version compare. The screen displays the Comparing page where:
    • On the Comparing page, the Old version and New version of the document are displayed side by side.
    • The third column, Diligent AI Assistant, displays the summary which includes:
      • The severity of the document changes are shown as Significant changes, Moderate changes, or Minor changes. You can sort on the severity.
      • If applicable, a link to the relevant part of the regulation.

    • The Diligent AI Assistant also generates an overview description of the changes on the entire regulation level.
