Inserting images in rich text fields
Add visual content directly within any rich text field in Projects or Mission Control to ensure your workpapers are thorough and succinct.
How it works
You can insert images in any rich text field. This is useful when you need to include visual information in-line with text content.
For example, many organizations rely on flowcharts as a primary method to visualize and show detailed workflows within a given area. You can insert a flowchart diagram within a narrative description field to support your narrative documentation.
Rich text fields
You can insert images in rich text fields on any of the following pages in the Projects app:
- Planning
- Planning File
- Objective
- Narrative
- Risk
- Control
- Execute Procedure / Walkthrough
- Test Plan
- Testing
- Issue Information / Retest Information
- Action
- Results
- Results File
- Assurance Plans
- Compliance Maps
Supported image file types
You can insert any of the following supported image file types in rich text fields:
- .png
- .jpg
- .jpeg
- .tiff
- .bmp
- .gif
Maximum file size
The maximum file size for individual images is 1GB.
Mission Control
The same workflow for inserting images in rich text fields in the Projects app applies to rich text fields in Mission Control. You can insert images in rich text fields on any of the following pages in Mission Control:
- Control
- Execute Procedure / Walkthrough
- Testing
Diligent One for iOS and Android
You can view and remove images in Diligent One for iOS and Android. However, you cannot insert new images in rich text fields.
Images in reports
Image tags display in downloaded Projects reports, in the Reports app, and in Analytics:
- If alternative text is specified [Image: Alt text]
- If alternative text is not specified [Image]
Offline Projects
Inserting new images is not supported in Offline Projects. However, you can view and remove images. If images fail to download when you check out a section, image tags display in the rich text field instead.
Note
Image tags do not display in older versions of Offline Projects. To ensure you are using the latest version, you can check in all checked out sections. This allows you to auto-update Offline Projects to the latest version.
Security features
To provide secure and appropriate access to images inserted in rich text fields, Diligent has implemented the following security features:
- Links to images expire based on the user’s session timeout.
- If a user tries to process a record in the Results app that contains a description field with an image, and their session has timed out, they will see [Image: Alt text] instead of the actual image.
- If the user has the appropriate access to the page in the Projects app, they will be able to see the image normally.
Permissions
Access to working papers in Projects and Mission Control depends on your assigned privilege or role. For more information, see Projects app permissions.
