Working with processes in Risk Manager
A process is a systematic series of steps undertaken to achieve a specific goal within an organization. Processes are designed to be efficient, helping an organization to streamline its operations and deliver consistent results.
Examples of processes may include operations management, quality assurance, and financial reporting. In the Risk Manager app, you can create these processes and link them to risks and controls.
Adding a process
To add a process in the Risk Manager app, perform the following steps:
- Open the Risk Manager app.
The Risk Manager home page opens.
- Go to the Process tab and click + Add Process.
The Add Process dialog box opens.
- In the Add Process panel, enter a name for your process.
- Add any other details necessary, and click one of the following:
- Add Process to save the process and close the panel.
- Save & Add New to save the process and add another one.
Result After adding, your processes are created.
- Optional. After creating the processes, click on any process name to view the detailed process page and add more details.
Moving a process through different workflows
After creating a process, you can advance it through different workflow states based on your needs and requirements. Some workflow states may require some fields to be filled in, ensure to meet the criteria to advance the process.
To move a process from Define to Planning state, perform the following steps:
- Open the Risk Manager app.
The Risk Manager home page opens.

Go to the Process tab, and click on the name of the process you want to work with.
The process page opens with the Details tab.
- Enter the information about the process, including the ID, description, owner and click Save Changes.
- Click Plan in the top right.
Result The workflow status changes to Planning.
Note
- You can follow the same steps mentioned above to advance the process through the rest of the workflow states according to your needs.

Some workflow states may require some fields to be filled in, ensure to meet the criteria to advance the process.
Linking a process to other objects
A process can be linked to the risks and controls of your organization. It is important to capture this relationship for effective risk assessment and mitigation.
To link a process to other objects, perform the following steps:
- Open the Risk Manager app.
The Risk Manager home page opens.

Go to the Process tab, and click on the name of process you want to work with.
The process page opens with the Details tab.
- Go to the Relationship tab and do the following:
- To link a risk, click Link Risk.
The Link Object dialog box opens.
- The Type and Relation fields are pre-selected.
- In Related to field, select the risk you want to link the process to, and click Link.
Result The process is linked to the selected risk and shows up in the Relationships tab.
- To link a control, click Link Control.
The Link Object dialog box opens.
- The Type and Relation fields are pre-selected.
- In Related to field, select the control you want to link the process to, and click Link.
Result The process is linked to the selected control and shows up in the Relationships tab.
- To link a risk, click Link Risk.
Note
When you link the objects, a two-way link is created. For example: When you link your process to a risk, the linked risk is displayed in the Relationship tab of the process, and the process is displayed in the Relationship tab of the risk.
If the links are not working in both ways, contact Support for assistance.
Unlink a process from other objects
You can unlink relationship of a process from other objects.
To unlink a process relationship, perform the following steps:
- Open the Risk Manager app.
The Risk Manager home page opens.

Go to the Process tab, and click on the name of process you want to work with.
The process page opens with the Details tab.
- Go to the Relationship tab and click the unlink icon on the object that you want to remove the link from.
The Unlink Object dialog box opens.
- Click Unlink.
Result The process link is removed.
Associating a process with an organizational unit
Create a relationship between a process in Risk Manager and an organizational unit. Organizational units constitute the foundation of the enterprise, linking diverse organizational entities across different company segments. This hierarchy also stores departmental and business unit details. You can relate a process to multiple organizational units.
Here is how you can associate a process with an organizational unit:
- Open the Risk Manager app.
The Risk Manager home page is displayed.

Under the Processestab, select the name of the process that you want to update.
The process details page is displayed.

Under the Details tab, in the Related Org Unit field, search select any of the preconfigured organizational units you want to relate the process to.

Select Apply Selection.

Select Save Changes.
ResultThe process is updated. On the Risk Manager home page, under the Control tab, you can view the organizational unit associated with the specific risk under the Org Unit column.
Note
The organizational unit hierarchy is preconfigured by the system admins in your organization. For more information about the hierarchies in the organizational structure, contact your system admin. If you are a system admin, you can view the list of preconfigured organizational units in the platform settings (navigate to Platform Settings and click Org Structure). Deleting a process
To delete a process, perform the following steps:
- Open the Risk Manager app.
The Risk Manager home page opens.

Go to the Process tab, and click on the name of process you want to work with.
The process page opens with the Details tab.
- In the top right, click More optionsand then Delete.
- In the confirmation dialog box, click Delete again.
Result The process is deleted.
Managing Process settings in Risk Manager
You can enable / disable the Process object in the Risk Manager app. You can also customize the name to be used for the Process object.
Enabling and disabling the Process object
When you turn it on
- The Process tab appears on the Risk Manager home page.
- You can view the processes created.
- You can also view the relationships of the processes with risks and controls.
When you turn it off
- The Process tab is removed from the Risk Manager home page.
- You will no longer see the processes or the relationships of the processes with other objects.
To turn on/off the Process object, perform the following steps:
- Open the Risk Manager app.
The Risk Manager home page opens.
- On the left hand side, click the expand button to open the side panel.
- Click Settings > Global Settings.
- Click the toggle next to Process to enable or disable the object.
Result The Process the object is enabled or disabled based on your selection.
Note
When you turn off the toggle, the Process tab is removed from the Risk Manager home page, and you will no longer see the relationships of the process with other objects such as risks and controls.
Renaming the Process object
In the Risk Manager app, you can provide your own custom name for the Process object. This name will be used in the Process tab of the Risk Manager home page.
To rename, perform the following steps:
- Open the Risk Manager app.
The Risk Manager home page opens.
- On the left hand side, click the expand button to open the side panel.
- Click Settings > Global Settings.
- Click Edit name next to Process.
- In the Edit object name dialog box, provide a new name and click Edit name.
Result Process is renamed successfully.
