Change a user’s email address

An email address can be updated in Secure File Sharing but to maintain security the process must be initiated by an Organization Administrator. Only after the request has been initiated can an account holder complete the email address update on their account. An Organization Administrator needs to undertake the same process to update their own email address.

Caution

If someone is configured with an authentication provider (OIDC) then the Request email update option will not be displayed. In this situation you must contact Diligent Customer Support.

Request a user update their email address

  1. Go to your Secure File Sharing account and select Administration from your profile menu.

  2. Select the users more options icon and select Request email update from the menu.

    Note

If an OIDC label appears next to their email address they are configured with 3rd party authentication and this option will not appear. Contact Diligent Customer Support.

  3. Enter the users new email address in the input field and select Send request.

An email will be sent to the user's current email notifying them of the request. They will also be notified to update their email address when they sign into their Secure File Sharing account.

A Update pending notification appears next to their name. It disappears when they have completed the update or the request expires.

Note

The update request is valid for 24 hrs. If they don't complete the process during this period, you will need to initiate the request again.

Update your own email address

  1. Go to your Secure File Sharing account and select Administration from your profile menu.

  2. Select your more options icon and select Request email update from the menu.

  3. Enter your new email address in the input field and select Send request.

  4. Sign out of your Secure File Sharing account.

  5. Sign in again to your account.

You will be prompted to update your email address and the system will take you through the steps.
