Managing asset types in Asset Inventory

Asset types are preconfigured as part of your solution. Therefore, you cannot create, update, or delete asset types. However, you can manage sections and attributes linkage in asset types that are used in the Asset Inventory app.

To add, update, or delete asset types in Asset Inventory, engage our consulting team to customize your environment.

Viewing the asset types

  1. Open Launchpad.
    Note

    If your company uses more than one instance in Diligent One, make sure the appropriate instance is active.

  2. Select Platform Settings > Configuration.
  3. Select the Asset types tile.
  4. On the Asset types page, select the asset type for which you want to view details. The asset types details page displays the general information and the sections in the asset type.

Adding a new section to an asset type

  1. Open Launchpad.

    If your company uses more than one instance in Diligent One, make sure the appropriate instance is active.

  2. Select Platform Settings > Configuration.
  3. Select the Asset types tile. You can view all the asset types in the Asset types page.
  4. Select the asset type for which you want to add a new section. The asset types details page displays the general information and the sections in the asset type.
  5. Select Add new section.
  6. In the Add new section window, enter a name for the section.
  7. Select Save. The section is added in the asset type details page.

Renaming a section in an asset type

  1. Open Launchpad.
    Note

    If your company uses more than one instance in Diligent One, make sure the appropriate instance is active.

  2. Select Platform Settings > Configuration.
  3. Select the Asset types tile. You can view all the asset types in the Asset types page.
  4. Select the asset type for which you want to rename a section. The asset types details page displays the general information and the sections in the asset type.
  5. Select the section you want to rename.
  6. Select Rename.
  7. In the Edit sections window, enter a new name for the section.
  8. Select Save. The section name is updated.
Note
  • The Overview section is available by default and cannot be renamed or deleted.

    • Deleting a section from an asset type

    1. Open Launchpad.

      If your company uses more than one instance in Diligent One, make sure the appropriate instance is active.

    2. Select Platform Settings > Configuration.
    3. Select the Asset types tile. You can view all the asset types in the Asset types page.
    4. Select the asset type for which you want to delete a section. The asset types details page displays the general information and the sections in the asset type.
    5. Select the section you want to delete.
    6. Select Delete.
    7. In the Delete sections window, select Delete. The section is deleted.
    Note
  • The Overview section is available by default and cannot be renamed or deleted.

    • Adding an attribute type to a section

    1. Open Launchpad.
      Note

      If your company uses more than one instance in Diligent One, make sure the appropriate instance is active.

    2. Select Platform Settings > Configuration.
    3. Select the Asset types tile. You can view all the asset types in the Asset types page.
    4. Select the asset type for which you want to add an attribute type. The asset types details page displays the general information and the sections in the asset type.
    5. Select the section name where you want to add the attribute type and click Manage attribute types. In the Manage attribute types pane, the list of configured attribute types is displayed. You can search for a specific attribute type using the search bar. To add a new attribute type, see Working with attributes in Asset Inventory.
    6. Click the link icon to add an attribute type to the section. The attribute type is added.
    7. Select the attribute type name to view its details.
    Note
    • You cannot add or remove attribute types from the Overview section. To change the attribute types in this section, contact your Diligent representative.
    • The attribute types in the Overview section are displayed in the Add panel when you add the respective object in Asset Inventory, such as an asset or a record.

    Removing an attribute type from a section

    1. Open Launchpad.

      If your company uses more than one instance in Diligent One, make sure the appropriate instance is active.

    2. Select Platform Settings > Configuration.
    3. Select the Asset types tile. You can view all the asset types in the Asset types page.
    4. Select the asset type for which you want to remove an attribute type. The asset types details page displays the general information and the sections in the asset type.
    5. Select the section name where you want to disconnect the attribute type and click Manage attribute types.
    6. In the Manage attribute types pane, click the unlink icon to remove the attribute type from the section. Alternatively, you can select the display name of the attribute type from the section, and in the Attribute Type details pane, select Disconnect.
    7. In the Disconnect attribute type? dialog box, view the number of instances that are affected by the change and select Disconnect. The attribute is removed from the section.
    Note
    • You cannot add or remove attribute types from the Overview section. To change the attribute types in this section, contact your Diligent representative.
    • The attribute types in the Overview section are displayed in the Add panel when you add the respective object in Asset Inventory, such as an asset or a record.
