Creating storyboards

Create a storyboard to display visualizations and rich text content in a single presentation.

Create a storyboard

  1. Open the Storyboards app.
  2. Click Add Storyboard.
  3. Type a descriptive title for your storyboard. Storyboard titles can be a maximum of 80 characters.

Note

The Add icon appears on the border of any area of the storyboard that you can add content to: to the left, to the right, above, or below existing content rows.

Add a chart or table

  1. Click Add and select  Add Chart .
  2. Select one of the following options:
    • To display the table view from an interpretation, select the parent table entry
    • To display a visualization from an interpretation, select a child chart entry (bar chart shown)

    You can enter a keyword or phrase into the search field to filter the list of available visualizations.

    Note

    The green check mark indicates that a chart or table is already included in this storyboard.

Add a metric

  1. Click Add and select Add Metric.
  2. Select one of the following options:
    • To display all enabled trigger thresholds that belong to the metric, select the parent metric entry
    • To display a single enabled trigger threshold that belongs to the metric, select the child trigger entry

    The title of the chart reflects your selection.

    The green check mark indicates that a metric is already included in this storyboard.

Add text

Text is useful for contextualizing the data in the storyboard and providing information about any filters that may be applied to the data within the interpretation:

  1. Click Add and select Add Text.
  2. Enter your text into the text fields and then format the text using the formatting options.

Text formatting options

When adding text content to a storyboard, you can use a range of text formatting options to customize the appearance of your content. Text formatting is available in both Title and Body fields, and the options appear in order from left to right as follows:

Configure the layout

Add additional rows or columns

To add additional content rows or columns to your storyboard, in the area that you want to add content, click Add and select the type of content to insert.

You can add up to three items on a single row in a storyboard. Each item is automatically re-sized to fit the row.

Rearrange and adjust rows

To configure your storyboard layout, do any of the following:

  • To rearrange the order of your visualizations, click and drag the chart to a new location in the storyboard.
  • To adjust the height of a row, click Adjust Height  and drag the arrow to the desired row height.

Preview the storyboard and save

To preview your storyboard, perform the following steps:

  1. In the upper-right corner, turn off Edit mode.
  2. Hover over chart sections to display values.

To save your changes, perform the following steps:

  1. In the upper-right corner, turn on Edit mode.
  2. Make the desired changes in the storyboard and click Save in the upper-right corner.
  3. In the dropdown list, click Save again.
