Edit a trigger

Edit an existing trigger to change what event you are monitoring, which actions the trigger performs, or when the actions should be triggered. You can also rearrange existing triggers to change the order in which they execute.

Note

Only Results Admins, Professional Managers, or Professional Users can complete this task.

Note

A small number of older triggers do not support daylight savings time (DST). In these cases, Results prompts you to re-select a time zone to enable DST support and save the trigger.

Open the trigger

  1. Open the Results app.
  2. Navigate to the collection and analysis that contains the trigger you want to update.
  3. For the table that contains the trigger, click the number in the Triggers column.
  4. Optional. To edit the order of execution for multiple existing triggers, drag each trigger to the appropriate place in the list. Triggers execute from top to bottom in the order specified.
  5. From the list of triggers, select the trigger you want to edit.

Edit the trigger settings

  1. Optional. To change the trigger name, enter a new value in the field at the top of the dialog box.
  2. Optional. To change what event you are monitoring, click Delete in the Conditions section and then select one of the following options:
    • Record triggers actions based on changes to records
    • Metric triggers actions when a metric reaches a threshold

For more information about the specific fields used to configure record or metric triggers, see Create a trigger.

  3. Optional. To change which actions the trigger performs, click Delete in the Actions section and then add a new action. For more information about the specific fields used to define actions, see Create a trigger.
  4. Optional. To change when the actions are triggered, click Delete in the Frequency section and then select one of the available options:
    • Real-time executes the trigger at the actual time that the event or change occurs
    • Schedule executes the trigger based on a specified frequency

      Note

Time changes due to daylight savings time can cause overnight triggers to execute in ways you did not expect. For more information, see How daylight savings time affects scheduled triggers.

For more information about the specific fields used to define when a trigger executes, see Create a trigger.

  5. At the bottom of the dialog box, click Save.
