Making ad hoc changes to workflows
Administrators can allow ad hoc (on the fly) changes to in-process workflows. (Administrators, see Managing workflow definitions.)
If you have the rights to make ad hoc changes to an in-process workflow, the following items are among those displayed when the task Part of a workflow that itemizes certain work to be completed.'s three dots are selected.
- Add
- Insert Snippet
A predefined task or group of tasks that can be inserted into a workflow or workflow definition. Snippets are created and managed similiar to how workflow definitions are created and managed.
- Remove
- Restore
- Manage Predecessor
A task that must be completed before another task becomes active. Also called a precondition.
Select any of the following from the menu.
- Add a task to the workflow. Select the hamburger menu in the upper right then select the type of task to add. For a description of each task type, see Using workflows. Not all task types may be available to you. For information on task content, see Completing a workflow task.
- Insert Snippet: Add a predefined task or tasks to the workflow. The available snippets are displayed. Select a snippet to preview what will be added to the workflow. If the preview shows what you want, select Confirm and Insert.
- Remove: Remove the task from the workflow. The task appears in the workflow outline as grayed and crossed out. You can restore the task.
- Restore: Restore a task that has been removed and displays as grayed and crossed out.
- Manage Predecessors: View, add, or remove precondition task(s) that must be completed before the selected task can be completed. If a precondition is removed and there are notifications for the task, the email is sent as if the task were complete.
