Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) in Asset Manager
CVEs are standardized identifiers for publicly known security vulnerabilities in your IT assets. In Asset Manager, CVEs related to your assets are imported from Tenable.
Viewing CVEs
Prerequisite
Before viewing the CVEs, ensure you have imported data from Tenable. For information about importing, see Importing Tenable data into Asset Manager.
In Asset Manager, there are three ways to view the CVEs.
I) From the CVEs tab
- Open the Asset Manager app.
- On the left hand side, select the expand button to open the side panel.
- Select Vulnerabilities > Vulnerability details > CVEs tab.
Result The CVEs list is displayed. Each CVE contains the name, related aggregated assets, and related findings.
- Select any CVE name to go to the National Vulnerability Database.
- Select Show assets to view the related aggregated assets.
- Select Show findings to go to the Findings tab.
II) From the Findings tab
- Open the Asset Manager app.
- On the left hand side, select the expand button to open the side panel.
- Select Vulnerabilities > Vulnerability details > Findings tab.
The findings list is displayed. - Go to the finding of your choice, and in the Related CVEs column and select Show CVEs.
Result A right panel opens with the related CVEs. Select any CVE to view its details in the National Vulnerability Database.
III) From the Discrete Assets tab
- Open the Asset Manager app.
- On the left hand side, click the expand button to open the side panel.
- Select Vulnerabilities > Vulnerability details > Discrete Assets tab. The asset list is displayed.
- Go to the asset of your choice, and in the Related CVEs column, select Show CVEs.
Result A right panel opens with the related CVEs. Select any CVE to view its details in the National Vulnerability Database.
